Kang Dong-won (강동원, カン・ドンウォン) delivers one of his most intense and introspective performances yet in the new crime film 'The Plot (설계자, 設計者)'.

Portraying Young-il, a character marked by both icy detachment and internal turmoil, Kang's performance leaves audiences questioning the very nature of trust and reality.

The story kicks off with the mysterious death of Young-il’s colleague and close friend, Jjak-nun (played by Lee Jong-suk). As a mastermind in the hitman team 'Samgwang Security', Young-il suspects that the powerful organization 'Cleaners' is behind Jjak-nun’s death. He sets out to uncover the hidden truth.

The plot thickens when Young-il’s team receives a murder request from Joo Young-seon (Jung Eun-chae), targeting her father, Joo Sung-jik (Kim Hong-pa), who is a candidate for the Prosecutor General. As Young-il delves deeper into the web of conspiracy, the story maintains its tension without relying on heavy action sequences, focusing instead on the psychological intricacies of his character.

Known for his striking visuals in every film, Kang Dong-won brings a powerful presence to 'The Plot'. His portrayal of Young-il, a man who initially appears emotionally detached, gradually reveals subtle shifts in emotion that culminate in a gripping climax of psychological unrest.

Supporting Kang Dong-won are seasoned actors like Lee Mi-sook as the veteran Jackie, Lee Hyun-wook as the versatile Wol-cheon, and Tang Jun-sang as the naive rookie Jeom-man. The complex relationships and interactions among these characters add depth and dimension to the narrative.

Unique for a crime thriller, 'The Plot' eschews traditional weapons like guns and knives. Instead, the film presents everyday objects as lethal instruments in the staged accidents, creating an atmosphere of fresh and unsettling dread.

While it might disappoint those looking for high-octane action scenes, 'The Plot' captivates with its sophisticated psychological narrative. Audiences will leave the theater grappling with a sense of mistrust and psychological fear. The film is set to release on the 29th.
